About the Event

Our special program for November will be a summary of member Carl Korschgen's experiments introducing light into the hive. Carl was a research biologist for the US Department of Interior for 32 years. When he retired in 2009 he started keeping bees. He enjoys working with the bees and also making innovative hive components to increase the bees productivity.

Also, Chris Proctor from Honey Hill Apiary in Macon will present the Apimaye insulated hive system. Chris began beekeeping through helping a neighbor with his 200 colonies in 1987 just outside of Joplin. Honey Hill Apiary has been operating in Macon since 2017. They sell nucs, packages, and have operated a mentorship program for the last 4 years. The mentoring yard has standard Langstroths, Apimaye insulated hives, a top bar, and a Layens hive.
