June: Boone Regional Beekeepers - bumblebees

Our June meeting will be in-person at the Animal Science Building on the MU campus.

Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 3:00 pm (doors open at 2:30PM).

A guest speaker, Jared Brabant, will give a presentation on his research of bumblebees covering:

• Threats to bumblebees/pollinators and why we care
• Overview of bumblebee biology
• Bumblebees of Missouri and how we identify them
• Overview of current project
• 2 ways that we currently manage pollinator habitat
• 1 new method of habitat management we are exploring
• Conservation implications

Additionally we will discuss

• What's happening with your hives.
• What beekeepers should be doing with their hive colonies during June and July.
